Hi, I’m Jenna!

I’m a writer, editor, copy editor, and culture critic.

Writing

I have more than a decade of experience writing on a wide variety of topics including television, film, comedy, video games, theater, art, celebrities, LGBTQ culture, feminism, New York City, travel, history, robotics, and ancient catacombs.

My assignments have taken me in a helicopter over Manhattan with an aerial photographer, ghost-hunting in the catwalks of a historic Boston theater, and canoeing in the Gowanus Canal with a city preservationist. I’ve interviewed prominent figures including Joan Rivers, Patrick Stewart, Hannah Gadsby, Kenny Leon, Carrie Fisher, and many more.

My work has appeared in publications including Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Time Out New York, Condé Nast Traveler, CNN Travel, Mental Floss, Hemispheres Magazine, DIRECTV, Made Man, The Boston Herald, Time Out Boston, The Watershed Post, Explore Brooklyn, and Dig Boston.

Editing &

Copy Editing

Throughout my career, I’ve worked as both an editor and a copy editor across a variety of media, both in print and on the web. I spent six years overseeing copy editing efforts for Comedy Central’s digital team, helping to maintain the brand’s voice and grammar usage across a variety of platforms.

Before that, I was a features editor at Time Out New York, where I worked with a close-knit editorial and design group to conceive, assign, write, edit, and execute cover stories on a wide variety of topics.

As associate editor at Time Out Boston, I was part of a small team that conceived and created the first online-only version of the international magazine brand.

I believe in great content, fostering new talent, and your unalienable right to use the Oxford comma.

Other Stuff

I don’t like to sit still for long, so I’ve always got a few projects in the pipeline. I am the cohost of We’re Not Over Six Feet Under, an episode-by-episode recap podcast of everyone’s favorite early-aughts funeral home drama.

I’m also a member of the screening committee for NewFest, New York City’s annual LGBTQ+ film festival, where I help to select submitted films and moderate live panels and interviews.

In my spare time, I write plays and short stories, travel, draw cartoons, take photos, and go on long walks through the city and long hikes in the mountains.
